A Custom Shed Designed for Vehicle Storage

Heinze needed a practical and stylish shed to protect his classic cars while blending in perfectly with his home. For years, he had relied on a basic carport, but it did not give him the protection he needed. Rain blew in from the sides, dust and leaves piled up, and the Queensland sun made it unbearably hot. He wanted something strong and open at the front, giving his vehicles plenty of airflow while keeping them safe from the weather. Debret built a custom 6.8 metre by 6 metre gable shed with a stormwater system to prevent flooding and erosion. Now, Heinze’s cars are protected, and his shed looks like it has always been part of the property.

Heinze’s old carport was not doing the job anymore. Rain blew in, dust covered everything, and the extreme heat made it uncomfortable to use. He needed a practical and stylish shed that would keep his vehicles safe, clean, and easy to access. Debret designed a gable shed that offered the protection of an enclosed structure while keeping the front open for convenience. Now, Heinze has a shed that shields his cars from wind, rain, and debris while making parking and access effortless.

This was not just about putting up a shed. Heinze wanted to get everything right from the start without the stress of juggling multiple trades, chasing approvals, or dealing with delays. A Smart Design with Built-In Water Management

At the back of Heinze’s shed, Debret installed a smart water management system, with proper drainage and water tanks to direct rainwater away from the structure. The open front was carefully designed with an infill section, giving the shed a clean, polished look while keeping it visually balanced. Inside, cross bracing was neatly installed to provide extra support to the walls, ensuring the structure stays solid for years to come. A whirlybird on the roof helps with ventilation, keeping the space comfortable and preventing heat buildup. Every detail was planned to make sure Heinze’s shed not only works perfectly but also looks like a natural part of his property.

A practical and stylish shed should look like it belongs, not like an afterthought. That is why Debret carefully matched Heinze’s new gable shed with the colours of his existing home. The walls and infill were finished in COLORBOND^® Basalt^®, while the roof sheets in COLORBOND^® Terrain^® perfectly matched the home’s roof. For a seamless look, the flashings were done in COLORBOND^® Night Sky^®, tying in with the property’s accent guttering. The end result is a shed that not only provides secure storage but also complements the home, adding value and blending in as if it has always been there.
